Who? – About Rotary

Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.

What? – The Object of Rotary

is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Why? – The Presque Isle Rotary Club

is the largest club in Rotary International District 7810 with just over 100 members including 4 past district governors. Seventy individuals have been named Paul Harris Fellows by the club, twenty-six of whom are current members of the club. We were organized April 25, 1923. Presque Isle is a community of roughly 10,000 residents with many other active civic clubs.

Our major fund raiser is the Radio/TV Auction which has been a tradition since 1958. We typically raise $20,000 from auction items and have a special project which raises between $20,000 to $220,000 each year. WHY do we do this….so people both here and around the world are able to have a better, more productive and more enjoyable life. The money raised helps support projects from the gamut of youth hockey to the world eradication of polio. To see more about who we are and what we do click on News.
