FORE! Dust off your golf clubs and get ready to have great time raising money for a great cause! We’re planning for our 5th Annual Presque Isle Rotary Club Golf Tournament. In the past four years, we’ve had tremendous success, raising almost $42,000. This year’s proceeds will benefit the Mantle Lake Restoration Program.
Mantle Lake Park has been a popular picnic and recreation venue for individuals, families and business funct…ions both inside and outside of the greater Presque Isle area for many, many years. The goal of the Mantle Lake Restoration Program is to update and sustain the Park infrastructure to benefit area residents for years to come. Recent accomplishments include cleaning and sediment removal from Mantle Lake, development of a hazardous tree management plan, and engineering plans for restrooms, trail improvement and bridge enhancements.
The next phase of the Park Restoration Program has several components including constructing new, handicapped accessible restrooms, constructing handicapped accessible parking, connecting the parking area, restrooms and current access loop with a handicapped accessible path, rebuilding and repairing the picnic shelters, repairing bridges on the woods paths, and replacing the surface area under the kitchen pavilion.
This year’s tournament proceeds will assist with the construction of the new, handicapped accessible restrooms. The existing restrooms were built many years ago. They aren’t handicapped accessible and they’ve fallen into disrepair after many years of use. The new restrooms will be the cornerstone of the restoration program.
The cost is only $120 per 3 person team. It’s a scramble with no handicap restrictions. The course at Presque Isle is in the best shape it’s been in years. Please talk with your friends, neighbors and business associates and consider putting together a team today. If you’re not interested in playing, we’d also be more than happy to accept donations on behalf of the Mantle Lake Restoration Program.
